Malaysia Dhamma Sakyamuni Caves Monastery in sacred Gunung Kanthan lies in the Kinta Valley of Perak. Thousands of years ago, Kinta Valley was already visited by Buddhist traders and was the centre of an ancient Buddhist kingdom of Srivijaya.

100 years ago, our Great Master’s inner vision when in deep concentration led him to search for the Mountain that resembles the “reclining Buddha”. The Sakyamuni Lineage of Forest & Cave tradition monks were thus founded here in Gunung Kanthan.

The third generation of monks are today, the torch bearers of the Buddhist cave tradition. The caves provide a conducive environment that cannot be found anywhere else in today’s world. This is the place where the teachings of the Buddha is able to flourish like the critically endangered flora and fauna that still exists today in Gunung Kanthan.
